No, a bigger power supply will not give you higher refresh rates, but this will.Also, make sure you use the "PnP Monitor" driver or one specifically made for your monitor.

Are you playing in a larger resolution now that you put your AXP 2400+ in? Your monitor might not be able to handle 85Hz on a selected resolution... and is defaulting back to 60Hz.
